Charlene graduated yesterday as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Her uncle took her, her grandmother, aunt, and 3 friends out for dinner. In Everett. I am still not sure why we had to go to Everett, but I think it had something to do with that Uncle L. knows people that live there and go to Lombardi's all the time. shrugs. It took less than 45 minutes to get there from Kirkland. When we arrived, I felt very honored to have been included. :)
"Located on Everett’s scenic waterfront, classic but casual, Lombardi’s is the Northwest’s take on modern Italian cusine (sic). Perfect for dining out before the big game or concert at the Everett Events Center, Lombardi’s is always a great spot to drop by for a drink, a quick lunch, or a leisurly (sic) dinner with friends and family. With a great view of the marina and the Olympics beyond, what could be better?"
It was night, so we didn't see the water or the Olympics. Just lots of lights. :) The table was 4 2-tops pushed together. Leanne & I had the table farthest from the window and our table was quickly dubbed the hockey table. Imagine!!
We arrived after they had ordered the Bruschetta Sampler with all 3 bruschettas: Goat Cheese, Mediterranean Olive Tapenade, White Bean Italian Hummus, Yellow Fin Tuna, and Salsa Siena. I didn't try the olives or the tuna, but the other 3 were fab. The toasts they came with were excellent and I didn't stop to pick out what the flavor was. They also brought plain bread - same as the toasts - with cloves of roasted garlic. YUM!
Everything on the menu looked good, but I went with the first thing I had picked out from the online menu before I went - Tortellini Gorgonzola. Cheese tortellini with Gorgonzola sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil & walnuts. The sauce was the perfect amount of cream and there were only sun-dried tomato garnishes so that was okay. I don't like walnuts to eat them as nuts, but in a dish like this, I love 'em. I started with a dinner Caesar salad, just because I figured I needed veggies. :) For dessert, Leanne & I split tiramisu. It was too sweet and there was too much marscapone and not enough espresso-drenched lady fingers. However, we left only crumbs on the plate. :)
It was a leisurely dinner that took about 2 hours. It was great chatting hockey with Leanne, but it was also fun to hang out with Uncle L. because I'm pretty sure I've only talked to him once in my life. And then, we all went our separate ways.
I got home, got into my pajamas, and was in bed by 10:30. And I didn't get out of said bed until 8 this morning. That felt amazing! But now, I have to get in the shower, and put away yesterday's laundry, and clean my bathroom, and vacuum my apartment, and get ready to go to tea at B's. Talk about a busy Saturday!
