sadness

So, I am guessing that most of you have heard the news?

I am leaving Seattle to go back to NY to be near my family & stuff.

(Now, don't go all crazy on me - I'm not going to NYC!!!)

Here's my dilemma:
My blog is called "Rachel In Seattle".
Should I keep it that?
Should I use one of my other old blogs?
Should I keep the same address and change the name to "Rachel [Not] In Seattle"?
Should I start a whole new one?
If I were to start a whole new one, what would I call it?

Any opinions will be gratefully accepted. I heart U all!

why?

Let's say you are in Seattle.

You are waiting for the bus and it's sprinkling.

You are wearing a hood, yet you open your umbrella.

While you are under the shelter.

WHY? WHY? WHY?

Just wanted to get that off my chest!

how totally random

I was at Key Arena tonight to watch the Thunderbirds lose to the Tri-City Americans. Yes, it was a hockey game. Playoffs, too, no less. But how I ended up being there, well

Where to begin, I start with the end...

Not really, I just wanted to quote Carbon Leaf. :)

I was in Pioneer Square this afternoon. In the rain! (Because it's Seattle, apparently!) E works in Pioneer Square, so I texted her and asked if she wanted to do dinner. She wrote back and said she had plans. Turned out those plans were going to the hockey game.

Now, I had seen in the paper that this round was tied 1-1 and that there was a game on Tuesday. However, I rarely watch hockey these days, so didn't really look at when the game actually was. My bad.

So I took myself home on an 18X that was packed tighter than a can of sardines, if that's humanly possible. When we got to Pine, I got off because I decided I would be more comfortable walking. And the rain had stopped.

So I got home, not quite wet to the skin, and tried to figure out what to have for dinner. Nothing really sounded good and I hadn't eaten in HOURS! And I mean that - I went to "lunch" at 7:15 this morning! and it was now 5:30ish. What to do?! What to do?!

I decided I would either go to Safeway or Belltown Pizza. (See title of post!) I crossed 1st to either wait for the bus or walk for pizza then decided that I didn't want to go to Queen Anne because I was tired and had laundry to put away.

So I started walking south on 1st. As I was crossing Vine (I think it was), I passed this group of people in which one guy had on a Thunderbirds jersey and one girl had on a Red Wings jersey. I said "have fun at the game."

The guy in the T-birds jersey stopped and said "Thanks. Do you want to come with us?" I was like, "well, yeah, I guess. Do you have tickets?" And he goes, "Yeah, you can have one for 10 bucks. I'm Ben." I said, "Thanks. I'm Rachel." And we started walking toward Seattle Center together. He introduced me to his girlfriend Sarah and David & Joe & I can't remember the other girls name. I feel terrible! :(

So we walked into the game and sat in Section 128, Row 11, Seats 1-6. When they turned the lights up after the National Anthem (Why do they always pick young girls who can't sing?!), I heard someone yelling "RACHEL! RACHEL!" I turned around and there was E in Row 13, Seat 9ish. She was there with her sister & brother-in-law, and his friend. She was rooting for Tri-Cities!

The game was interesting. For those of you who so enjoyed the fights in Everett, you would have been sorely disappointed tonight. There was lots of hockey and lots of good, hard hits, but no fights. Unfortunately, the T-birds played much of the game in their own end, but Helenius stood on his head to keep the team from losing too badly. He made 42 saves in a 3-2 loss.

And then, they walked me home. It was sweet of them, really. Joe lives a couple of blocks from me, so they were headed in my direction anyway. They were all really nice and thanked me for going to the game with them. They kept asking if I had fun. I did! :)
