About those boys...

Jim was the first hockey player I got "involved with". He was also the last one I went out with. I learn quick! That was in college - the first time around...

I met Ron thru hockey. He was cute and we never actually went out, but were definitely interested. Then I realized just how much baggage he had and decided I didn't need that!

Dennis was one of the guys I met on myspace. (Yes, I now know much better!) However, I had seen him at hockey games for several years, so it was nice to meet him. (?) We met at a game and went out once. He was attractive until that night. He was wearing a purple shirt and wanted to go shopping, but claimed he wasn't gay. shrugs.

What conclusion can be drawn from these experiences? Well, there are several.

1) Don't date hockey players. Don't leave the rink with them. They really are nothing but trouble!
2) Don't go out with hockey fans you are bound to see at games on a regular basis.
2a) If they say they have a 13-year-old daughter, be warned. She may not be the only child he has!
3) Don't date guys from myspace.

That's all for now. I haven't done anything except spent a lot of time at Starbucks since my last post.

spring break

Howdy, y'all!

I'm back in upstate NY for 8 days - most of which I've already been here for. I'm sure you are wondering why I'm spending spring break in upstate NY. Well, it's where I'm from and I wanted to see my family. And my youngest niece turned 1 this week, so I wanted to be home for that. :)

I flew home on the Thursday red-eye from Sea-Tac. Stopped in Cincinnati and realized that I was on the east coast. It has a different feel (no, I can't explain it!) and I was just in the airport. Landed in Syracuse, NY at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Dad picked me up and our first stop was to see Katie Lou - yay!

Mom had made soup for lunch, so we went there next. Syreeta was SO excited to see me when we pulled in the driveway. Annabelle? Not so much. But then, she was only 6 months when I left 6 months ago, so, I guess she can't really be expected to remember her Auntie Rachel?! After lunch, I showered and took at nap. I woke up feeling much better, but just in time to get ready to go to the hockey game.

I wore my Allen jersey, because that's what I used to do. Saw lots of people and that was fun. The Sens are terrible, but the new goalie was pretty good considering he had no one in front of him! After the game, I met Tim & Tara at Flashbacks to see Bad Hair Day. FUN! People my age rocking out to music I know & love. So I hung out with them and Shimes and Steven (hot!) and Jimmy and Corey. (if you were there, you know that this was apparently quite hysterical...) ;) I left there at midnight because I was absolutely exhausted!

Saturday morning, Am and the girls came for brunch, then we went to both Starbucks and stopped at Walgreens before picking up Brozettis. Yum! I was raised on the jingle. "7-9 7-9 960 Call Brozettis for pizza to go!" Took the pizza home and ate before going to the hockey game - Dad, Am, Syreeta & I. The game was no better, but there were a couple of fights, which are, apparently, the only thing worth watching this year. (If anyone is interested or knows who these people are, I ran into Jim, Ron & Dennis!*) Went right home after the game and went to bed.

Sunday was meeting then dinner with the Doaks. I'm so thankful they invited us - I love hanging out with them. :)

Monday, I stopped to see LD on my way to Ithaca. Got to see the new Collegetown store. It looks like someone's living room - loved it! (Thanks Frankie!) That night was Annabelle's birthday party. It was just the family and we had spaghetti. Mom made the cake. It was fun to hang out with the family. :)

Tuesday, I opened at Front Street & got to run the drive-thru. That was fun, but it took a bit of getting used to as it's been 6 months since I had worked at drive-thru. I had a dentist appointment that afternoon and I have excellent teeth-health. :) Mom made her spelt-crust, no sauce pizza then we went to prayer meeting.

Wednesday I slept in a bit and showered and read the paper and suddenly realized that I needed to go to work. So I worked 11-4:45 and didn't get to play in the drive-thru. :( Then I went to Staples and bought a new flash drive (long story) and cd-rs to move my pictures from the PC at my parents to my laptop. (Yes, I could have used the flash drive, but, well, that's part of the long story!)

We went to dinner at Number 5. I had the Petite Greek Tenderloin, as usual. Yum! Salad & bread to start and cappuccino torte for dessert. So good! I haven't had steak since I left here in September when Johnny & Carla took me to Number 5 as a going away party.

Today, I slept in and went to lunch with Katie Lou, then stopped in to see Kevin. Yay. Then I went to visit Madeline in the nursing home. It's amazing how well she has recovered. She's 86 and had a knee replacement. And now we are off to visit Mom's Aunt Mary in a different nursing home.

More later!

mood: giddy

OMG!!! What an amazing day!

I worked 7 - 3:30. Rush is still really tough - Today was my third time and I worked the whole thing. I even got to deliver an order. That was fun, but frustrating because no one would tell me exactly what I needed to do. But whatevs. After I got back from that adventure, the day improved. Drastically.

What happened? Well... after my last 10, I got sent out for 4 pounds of coffee and 2 boxes of lemonade at 2 different stores. The coffee store was super busy and apparently understaffed and/or incompetent? My friend Andrew was working at the 2nd store I went to, so we chatted for a bit before I headed back. A while after I got back, Caleb walked in with my IPod Shuffle. HOORAY!!!!! You'll be interested to know (Becky!) that he ordered me the orange one. How excited am I???!!!!!!!

Oh, and it's 63 degrees and the sun is out and the sky is blue and it's WARM! :) So on my way out of work, I bought a pink & white gerbera. The girl (originally from Toronto) wrapped it in spring green tissue and I headed out into the sunshine.

First stop was the bank where I deposited my tax refund checks. From there, I headed into Office Depot to buy a printer. The cute guy that closes during the week wasn't working :( but the guy in technology was hysterically funny and was trying to help me save money. This is good! So I spent $168 on an HP Printer/Scanner/Copier + accessories. Fortunately the HP boxes have handles 'cuz I had to carry it 7 blocks to get it home. Plus I was carrying my flower, my bag and all the accessories that go along with all of my new technology.....

But it is GORGEOUS outside and lots of girls were carrying flowers so that was fun. And now I am sitting in Starbucks downstairs (cuz my internet never works upstairs!) downloading ITunes and registering my printer and stuff. I'm in jeans, a tee shirt, and cute mules... It is going to be insanely difficult for me to do homework this summer if spring is this FAB...!!! :)

Anyways, Happy St. Patrick's Day tomorrow. I am hoping to go to the parade - yay! :)

P.S. I wore my hair in pigtails today for work and I looked cute! ;)

manic monday

hit snooze this morning – didn’t want to get out of bed. But I’m not into skipping classes, so not getting up was not an option. After doing my back exercises, I realized that the sky was midnight blue – at 6:15 a.m. When I got out of the shower 20 minutes later, the sky was considerably lighter and by the time I was ready to leave, I grabbed my sunglasses. Yay! I love sunny days.

(‘Tho I realized it will be difficult to want to stay in and do homework this summer when it will be nice all the time…)

I struggle with the work, but I like Concept Development because of the people in the class – Michelle, Maryska, Jodie, Riga, Don & Sigrid. Also because there is a cute guy named Jeff in there. I should point out that rumour has him married. He doesn’t wear a ring… Anyways, he wasn’t there today, so that was sad. :( Critiques went well and we laughed ‘til we cried … over the reasons for guys to buy girls flowers. :)

Had a text from Caleb that he had forgotten to order my Shuffle last week, but did it this past Saturday and that I’ll have it this week for sure. Yay! Speaking of forgetting, I forgot to text him back. oops! So anyways, I will join the cool people of Seattle and have an IPod. :)

So home from school for lunch and the 80s at lunch on Star. They played Manic Monday – hence today’s title. :) Actually, the whole thing was really good and I sang along to most of it – especially Pet Shop Boys and Joan Jett. “You’ve got the brawn, I’ve got the brain, let’s make lots of money.” and “I hate myself for loving you.” I have way too much fun by myself. :)

And then I realized that I need a color printer!

About that time, I also realized that I was not connected to linksys, this random wireless network that is “everywhere” but only sporadically in my apartment. I blame it on living on the alley, overlooking the roof of the building next door, on the wrong side of the building, etc. But it was frustrating ‘cuz I wanted to email Jodie.

I need to take pictures – I don’t have any gray hair! Hooray! for the next couple of weeks before it starts growing again……

It was really nice here in Seattle today. I’d say close to 60, but whatever the temperature, it was far too warm to wear a parka to walk 10 blocks. It was even still too warm for that tonight when I got out of work at 7:30!

Guess that’s all for now. I have to get stuff done for Fred’s class and I’m not sure what all I have to do. Ack! The reason I don’t like to get out of bed on Tuesday mornings…

advertising

'Tho I find it fascinating, I have no interest in it's creation. I can't get my brain around it and I've wasted a whole afternoon. But I did read most of the articles in the March issue of Vogue...

these weren't the pics i was looking for but they'll have to do for now :)

in case u were wondering...

I have not dropped off the face of the earth. I've merely disappeared under these huge piles of paperwork that are really thumbnails for 2 classes and tests for another. Between school and work, I'm attempting to stay drama-free. That's actually going pretty well, thanks girls! :)

Speaking of you girls... this would be a fabulous time to mention that Josh is HOT. I'm glad we took him to Lowe's. Hope he's okay... ;) Maryska, we need to talk about that huge voicemail I left u today.....

Paper Zone is still FAB and I might need another trip there this weekend. That's actually what I should be working on right now instead of hanging out online. At least I'm not on myspace. Well, right now, anyways... lol Seattle is cold. 'Tho it felt warmer tonight than it did this afternoon when I walked to work.

Ah yes, the weather. There was snow up north overnight last night, but none here in downtown. Some schools cancelled today and it looks like the kids will be going until the end of June. Yikes! Apparently this winter has been a-typical and we haven't had that much rain. Wierd. I thought it snowed all the time here...

Hope all of you in upstate NY are keeping warm, dry & safe. I miss you and can't wait to see you! I'll be home March 23rd...

I can't believe it's March already.

Becky was here last weekend. Friday night, we ate Mexican and watched Music & Lyrics. Saturday, we stopped for coffee on our way to the Underground Tour. Did you know that Seattle is built on top of the original Seattle? Well, it's true and we saw it. It's very neat. You should go! Then we wandered around Elliott Bay Book Co. Next stop, U. Village. We had summer rolls at Zao noodle bar then shopped but didn't buy much. You'll be excited to know that I ordered a Shuffle. I couldn't justify the cost of a Nano when I like to listen to the city as much as I do. But Caleb hooked me up. Supposedly. I haven't actually seen it yet... From U. Village, we headed to Fremont. After coffee at Caffe Ladro, we wandered to the statue of Lenin, the rocket, burnt sugar/frankie's, and finally waiting for the interurban.

You know, I should blog from my laptop so I could actually post pictures.....

From Fremont, we headed down to Southcenter to Bahama Breeze. We met Beth, Stacey, Glen, Spencer, Phil, Andrew. Peter & Rick. It was fun. :) Then Becky headed back to Michelle's and Stacey & Beth took me home.

Monday night, I met Becky, El, Char, Josh, Spencer, Glen, Andrew & Mike at Red Robin in Bell Square. I was feeling quite unsocial by the time I got there - the result of a l..o..n..g day. But it was fun to hang out.

And then it was back to the reality of work and school and hanging out by myself.

Oh, but Luke is going to teach me Photoshop hopefully. Which is good because I should know how to use it. And also good because he's cute and tall and has red hair..... ;)

Katie Lou, I miss you.
