the coolest thing happened to me today...

I graduated from high school in 1993 with Eric. I heard from a friend at home that he was living in Seattle and has been out here for a while. He found me on myspace and I discovered that he's a mountaineer and we chatted a bit, but he was headed out to Nepal and wouldn't be back until early -to- mid June. I said that was fine because I was going to be in school until then. So we made sort of tentative plans to get together then and he went off to Nepal.

To climb Mount Everest, apparently.

Yesterday, I got a package from Mom which included an article from the Press & Sun-Bulletin about Eric. His parents monitored his climb closely and were thankful that he got back safely. So I emailed him this morning, congratulating him on his achievement and welcoming him back. And I gave him my new phone number.

Fast forward to this afternoon. We walked to the Sculpture Park and built stone piles, then we wandered back. I decided to go home to switch out projects and get food. As I was walking past the garage entrance to Cost Plus, I saw a tall really good-looking guy walking with an older couple. I said,

"Eric?"

He looked at me and said "Rachel?"

Turns out it was indeed Eric and his parents. They had come for a visit after his trip. (Too bad they will miss my parents by 3 days.) So we stood in the middle of the sidewalk and chatted for a while. And it was the COOLEST THING EVER!!! :)

p.s. he's really cute! ;)
